Sharanya helps Karimnagar down Telangana Sports School, win Asmita Under-16 trophy

K Sharanya turned out to be the hero for Karimnagar Football Club who scored a 1-0 win over Telangana Sports School in the final of the Asmita Under-16 Women’s Football League 2026 at the Tagore Stadium in Mancherial on Thursday.

Karimnagar were off the blocks quickly and put the Telangana Sports School defence under tremendous pressure. The move yielded result as K Sharanya struck in the seventh minute to put Karimnagar 1-0 ahead.

Thereafter, both teams mounted several attacks, but none bore fruit. Telangana Sports School tried their best to equalise but the Karimnagar defence stood resolute and thwarted every attack.

In the end, the seventh minute strike by Sharanya was enough for Karimnagar girls to lay their hands on the coveted trophy.

Telangana minister for mines, geology and labour Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy was the chief guest at the final and gave away the trophy.

Result (final): Karimnagar Football Clube 1 (K Sharanya 7th min) beat Telangana State Sports School 0.
