SATG MD Sonibala Devi lauds Esha Singh

Ace shooter Esha Singh, who had won a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup Pistol Shooting Championships in Hangzhou, China, called on Dr A Sonibala Devi, managing director of the Sports Authority of Telangana, at her office in LB Stadium, Hyderabad, on Tuesday.

Sonibala congratulated Esha Singh for her outstanding achievement in winning the gold medal. The SATG MD felicitated and extended her heartfelt congratulations to the young shooter.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sonibala said that Esha Singh’s remarkable victory has brought immense pride to India and further elevated the country’s stature on the international sporting stage. She lauded Esha for creating history by becoming the first shooter to win back-to-back World Cup gold medals in the pistol shooting category, describing the feat as a matter of great pride for the nation and Telangana.

She wished Esha Singh continued success in her sporting career and expressed confidence that she would achieve many more milestones, bringing further international recognition and glory to both India as well as Telangana.

Safe Sports Telangana workshop concludes

Meanwhile, the three-day ‘Safe Sports Telangana’ Workshop, organised by the Sports Authority of Telangana, concluded on Tuesday at the Gachibowli Stadium.

The workshop was conducted as part of the Telangana Sports Policy 2025 with the objective of creating a safe, inclusive, and equitable sporting environment across the State through the implementation of a comprehensive Safe Sports (Safeguarding in Sports) framework.

The workshop was organised in three phases, targeting different stakeholder groups. The first day focused on student athletes, the second day was dedicated to sports administrators and coaches, while the final day brought together Physical Education Teachers (PETs), Physical Directors, and representatives of various sports organisations.

The programme highlighted the importance of providing athletes with a safe and secure sporting environment to enable them to realise their full potential. Speakers emphasised that fostering a culture of respect, dignity, mutual trust, and safety in sports is central to the vision of the Telangana Sports Policy 2025.

Sports Authority of Telangana reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every athlete in the State trains and competes in a fearless, safe, and inclusive environment. It was also announced that the recommendations and key outcomes of the workshop would be compiled to formulate the Telangana Safe Sports Guidelines, which will serve as a framework for strengthening athlete welfare and safeguarding standards across the state.

The valedictory session was attended by Ms. Anita, Administrative Officer, Sports Authority of Telangana; Dr. Cherukuri, UNESCO representative; Ms. Madabhushi Tejaswini, representative of Yugantar NGO; Mr. Kaleru Suresh, Public Relations Officer, Sports Authority of Telangana; Mr. Kannam Madhu, Administrator, Gachibowli Stadium; and other officials and stakeholders.
