G Sai Karteek Reddy and Aryan Shah of India went down fighting to Dominic Recek and Daniel Siniakov of Czech Republic in the men’s doubles final of the 25K World Tour ITF Tennis Tournament at Kassel in Germany.
The Indian duo had a great run this week in reaching the finals. In the final, the Indians put their best foot forward but it was not sufficient as their rivals proved quite a handful. The Czech pair won 6-4, 6-3.
Sai Karteek and Aryan win a semis thriller
In the semifinals, Sai Karteek Reddy and Aryan Shah were stretched by their German opponents Adrian Oetzbach & Sydney Zick before they managed to eke out a hard-fought win in three sets.
In what turned out to be a thriller, Karteek and Aryan held on to their advantage to win the first set at 7-5. However, they lost steam in the second one as their German rivals won the set with relative ease at 6-2.
In the grimly fought decider, both teams put up an impressive show but the Indians managed to keep their cool and prevail 10-8.
Karteek and Aryan had an easier outing in the quarterfinals as they brooked no challenge from S Battistone of the USA and L Poertner of Germany. The Indian pair won 6-1, 6-3.
In the first round, Karteek and Aryan defeated T Hammes and M Hornung of Germany 6-2, 6-1 to kick start their splendid run in the tournament.
