Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil and Arjun Babuta won the gold and silver medals respectively in the men’s 10m air rifle event at the Asian Shooting Championships 2026 in New Delhi on Friday.
Rudrannksh Patil, the 2022 world champion in the event, shot 251.9 in the final to claim his maiden individual continental shooting crown.
He leapfrogged early leader and eventual bronze medallist, Japan’s Naoya Okada, in the fifth series and kept his nose ahead for the remainder of the medal round.
Arjun Babuta moved into the second spot in the sixth series and held off Okada for silver. He scored 250.7.
Earlier, Patil topped the qualification stage with a score of 632.1 while Babuta placed sixth in qualification with 628.0 to advance to the eight-man final.
India’s Vishal Singh also qualified for the final as the last eligible shooter after finishing 10th in the qualifiers with 624.6. He finished fifth in the medal round with 185.5 points.
Two of the top 10 finishers in the qualifying round- India’s Kiran Ankush Jadhav (fourth) and Hanuwant Singh Yadav (eighth) – were competing for Ranking Points Only (RPO).
Patil and Babuta, along with Vishal Singh, also helped India clinch the team gold with a tally of 1884.7. Kazakhstan and Japan completed the podium.
The three medals on Friday took India’s medal tally in senior events at the ongoing championships, which only features rifle and pistol events, up to eight, four gold, three silver and one bronze.
