Rishitha wins it for Sports School, Ananda brace helps Karimagar down Wanaparthy

Ananda Varshini struck a brace to power Karimnagar Football Association to a 2-0 win over Wanaparthy Football Association and N Rishitha Raj struck the lone goal for Telangana State Sports School in their 1-0 win over Sky Kings Football Club on the opening day of the Under-16 Asmita Football League 2026 in Mancherial on Monday.

Karimnagar girls were quickly off the blocks as Ananda Varshini struck as early as the 6th minute of the game. Thereafter, both teams failed to breach the rival citadel. However, Ananda made it 2-0 in the 38th minute.

In the second half, Karimnagar were glad to hold on to their lead, while Wanaparthy girls failed to stage a comeback in the game.

In the other game of the day, N Rishitha Raj made all the difference for Telangana State Sports School who gained full points from the match.

Rishitha struck the all-important goal in the 16th minute of play as Telangana State Sports School carved out a 1-0 win over Sky Kings Football Club.

Mancherial collector Deepak Kumar was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. A Maruthi Prasad, municipal commissioner of Kyathanpally Muncipality and G P Palguna, secretary, Telangana Football Association, were the other guests.

Results: Telangana State Sports School 1 (N Rishitha Raj 16th min) beat Sky Kings Football Club 0.

Karimnagar Football Association 2 (Ananda Varshini 6th and 38th minutes) beat Wanaparthy Football Association 0.
