Opener and wicketkeeper K Revanth Reddy slammed an unbeaten century to put Andhra on top against Tripura in their Col CK Nayudu Trophy match at the DVR ground in Mulapadu, near Vijayawada, on Friday.
At stumps on the first day, Andhra were 358 for three in 90 overs with Revanth batting on 183 off 254 balls with 17 fours and five sixes. Giving him company was M Abhinav on 40 off 94 balls with two fours.
Tripura skipper Sandip Sarkar won the toss and chose to bowl first. It turned out to be a bad decision as the Tripura bowlers were flayed to all parts of the ground and the fielders were made to go on a leather hunt right through the day.
Openers Revanth Reddy and skipper M Hemanth Reddy gave their side a flying start with a 109-run partnership for the first wicket off 163 balls. Hemanth, who was the more aggressive batter, made an 87-ball 66 with nine fours and three sixes before he was trapped leg before by Dipen Biswas. Revanth contributed 43 off 76 balls to the partnership.
Revanth and GSP Teja then added 42 for the second wicket before Teja (25) became Biswas’ second wicket when he was caught by Sentu Sarkar.
Revanth found another good partner in S Venkata Rahul and the duo added 84 for the third wicket with Rahul scoring 39 off 67 balls with four fours and a six before he was caught by Sahil Sultan off Rajdeep Datta. Revanth contributed 44 off 63 to the partnership.
Revanth and newman Abhinav then ground the Tripura attack to the ground with an unbroken 123-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Abhinav made 40 off 94 balls while Revanth made 79 off 91 balls.
