Hyderabad women continued to disappoint as they crashed to yet another humiliating loss in the BCCI’s Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy. On Monday at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, Punjab women crushed Hyderabad by eight wickets.
After six rounds of matches, Hyderabad are in the seventh position in the eight-team Group C. They have won only one match, while losing five games. Punjab, on the other hand, have won three and lost three games. They are placed fourth in the group with 12 points.
Put into bat, Hyderabad were off to a solid start as opener G Trisha and Sandhya Gora put on a century partnership. The duo added 102 off 140 balls for the first wicket, which was the best partnership of the innings. The aggressive Trisha contributed 59 off 71 balls, while Sandhya made 33 off 69 balls with four boundaries before falling to Priyanka.
Kunchala Niteesha (0) did not trouble the scores but Trisha and Vanka Pooja added 21 before the former departed. Trisha was caught by Pragati Singh off Priyanka, who grabbed all the three wickets to fall till this time. Trish made a 101-ball 67 with eight fours.
Pooja (28 off 35 balls) fell soon thereafter, and Hyderabad failed to build substantial partnerships later on. Wicketkeeper K Nidhi made a 51-ball 66 with 10 fours and a six to take Hyderabad to 239 for nine in their allotted 50 overs.
Punjab had no problems in chasing down the score. They did it with 5.1 overs to spare as he reached 240 for two.
Openers Ridhima Aggarwal and Khushi Chahal put on 84 for the first wicket before Khushi fell for 21.
Ridhima and Pragati Singh then added 21 for the second wicket before Ridhima became Kesari Drithi’s second wicket. Ridhima made a 61-ball 70 with 14 boundaries.
Pragati and Priya Kumar then sealed the issue with a 135-run partnership for the unbroken third wicket.
Pragati was not out on 85 off 68 balls with 12 fours and Priya made an unbeaten 55 off 84 balls with eight fours.
