Maharashtra’s Ojas Pravin Deotale hogged the limelight by winning two gold medals at the 32nd NTPC Senior Indian Round, 21st NTPC Senior Compound and 45th NTPC Senior Recurve (men & women) National Archery Championship which concluded successfully at the Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet, Hyderabad, on Monday.
In the 50 meters overall (men category), Ojas Pravin Deotale clinched the gold medal. He was followed by Abhijit Singh (Punjab), who took the silver, and Abhishek Verma (Delhi) securing bronze.
In the Individual Olympic Round (men), Ojas Pravin Deotale once again topped the podium. Abhishek Verma (Delhi) and Sahil Rajesh Jadhav (RSPB) claimed the silver and bronze medals respectively.
In the 50 meters overall (women event), Aditi Gopichand Swami (Maharashtra) won the gold medal. She was followed by Madhura Dhamangonkar (Maharashtra), who bagged the silver, and Rajbanshi Ramdina (West Bengal) taking bronze.
Team events also saw strong performances, with Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, and AIPSCB securing top positions across men, women, and mixed team categories.
The championship provided a competitive platform for India’s elite archers and served as an important event for talent identification and preparation for upcoming international competitions.
The prestigious national event was jointly organized by the Archery Association of India and the Telangana Archery Association and witnessed enthusiastic participation from top archers representing various states and units across the country.
Former National volleyball player G R Kiran, deputy RM, TGSRTC, was the chief guest at the inauguration of the sports meet at the Krushi High School.
Secunderabad Club down HPS (R)
Secunderabad Club scored a 55-run win over Hyderabad Public School (Ramanthapur) in the HA C Division (one-day) League Championship. Batting first, Secunderabad Club scored a modest 177 in 30.4 overs with Varzavand making 38. Avaneesh bagged three for 22 for HPS.
In reply, HPS were bowled out for 122.
