Opener Pratha helps Baroda post thumping nine-wicket win over Hyderabad

Opener Pratha Vanar scored an unbeaten half-century to propel Baroda to a thumping nine-wicket victory over Hyderabad in the BCCI’s Under-15 Women’s One-day Trophy at the Vizzy Stadium in Vizianagaram on Tuesday.

Chasing Hyderabad’s modest 137 for six, Baroda openers Pratha and Naysha Tivari went on the rampage. The duo flayed the Hyderabad bowlers as they piled on the runs. They added 82 for the first wicket before skipper Naysha fell to K Deekhsaja after making a 51-ball 36 with five fours and a six.

That was the only reprieve Hyderabad got on a dismal day. Pratha and Nyasa Thakur then added 59 off 49 balls for the unbroken second wicket to steer their side home. Baroda made 141 for one in 24.2 overs with Pratha remaining unconquered on 66 off 68 balls with nine fours and a six. Nyasa was on 24.

Earlier, Hyderabad openers P Shanvi and Bhavishya Reddy gave their side a solid start with an 80-run partnership off 96 balls. Bhavishya was the first to fall after making a 46-ball 41 with six fours and two sixes.

Thereafter, the Hyderabad innings went into a tailspin as they lost steam. Skipper Shanvi was the fourth wicket to fall at 98 after making a patient 44 off 72 balls with eight hits to the fence. The rest of the batters failed to make any substantial contributions as Hyderabad were restricted to 137 for six.

Hyderabad who suffered their first loss in three games are in third position behind Punjab and Baroda in Elite Group B.

Brief scores: Hyderabad 137/6 in 35 overs (P Shanvi 44, Bhavishy Reddy 41, Vaibhavi A Deokatte 3/38) lost to Baroda 141/1 in 24.2 overs (Pratha Vanar 66 no, Naysha Tivari 36).

Sana, Rishika and Pushpitha help Andhra keep slate clean

Sana and P Rishika Krishnan set up Andhra’s four-wicket win over Jammu & Kashmir at the VCA Kalamna in Nagpur.

After restricting J&K to a modest 117 for nine, Andhra went on to make 121 for six with opener Pushpitha Gowda K scoring a fine half-century.

Pushpita Gowda and skipper Deeksha Katragadda gave Andhra a solid start with a 64-run partnership for the first wicket before the skipper fell for 36, which came off 29 balls and had five hits to the fence and one over it.

Thereafter, Andhra lost their way a bit as it turned out to be a fashion parade. Batters came and went without much ado. Pushipta was the fifth wicket to fall fell ith the score reading 109 but she had done enough to ensure full points for her side.

pushpita scored a 38-ball 57 which was studded with nine fours and a six. Andhra made 121 for six in 16.1 overs.

Earlier, J&K batters were all at sea against the Andhra attack. Barring No.3 bat Vitaasta Kitchlu, who made a fighting 48 off 69 balls with eight fours, none of the others offered much of a resistance. Only two other batters reached double figures as J&K were restricted to 117 for nine in 35 overs.

Sana finished with figures of four for 20 and Rishika bagged three for 35.

Andhra are at the top of Elite Group C with 12 points from three games.
