Prashanth Kumar hit a six to steer Avanthi Degree College to a comfortable victory over Badruka College in the final of the Osmania University Inter-College Netball Championship for men at the Govt Junior College in Hyderabad on Thursday. The two-day meet was organized by Avanthi Degree and PG College.
Avanthi Degree College, in what turned out to be a relatively easy outing for the hosts, brooked no challenge for Badruka College. Avanthi Degree College romped to a 9-4 win with Prashanth Kumar scoring six goals. Slokh got three goals for Badruka to reduce the margin of loss.
In the semifinals, Avanthi Degree College thrashed Govt City College 13-6 in a rather one-sided affair. The other semifinal was a more engrossing match as Badruka College finally prevailed over a fighting Loyola College 8-5.
Prof Rajesh Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Education, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Prof B Sunil Kumar, Prof K Deepla, Prof S Jagan Mohan and Dr Balraj attended the event. Dr Someshwar Rao, organising secretary welcomed the guests.
Results (final): Avanthi Degree College 9 (Prashanth Kumar 6) beat Badruka College 4 (Slokh 3). Semifinals: Avanthi College beat Govt City College 13-6; Badruka College beat Loyola College 8-5.
