Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha and his partner Pruchya Isaro of Thailand won the doubles title at the Chennai Open 2026 tennis tournament. Top seeds Poonacha and Isaro overcame Great Britain’s Jay Clarke and India’s Mukund Sasikumar 6-4, 6-4 in 85 minutes at the SDAT Tennis Stadium on Saturday.

After losing serve early in the first set, Poonacha and his Thai partner broke back in the third and seventh games to win the opener.

Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha and Pruchya Isaro would also go on to break Jay Clarke and Mukund Sasikumar in the third game of the second set before consolidating their serve for the rest of the match to win the ATP 50 event.

The Chennai Open gave Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha his seventh ATP Challenger doubles title and his second with Pruchya Isaro. The Indian tennis player and Pruchya Isaro also won the Shanghai Challenger together last year.

In the singles final, sixth-seeded Frederico Ferreira Silva beat second-seeded Federico Agustin Gomez of Argentina 6-4, 6(10)-7(12), 6-4 in a gruelling three-hour-long match to clinch the Chennai Open title on Sunday.

Frederico Ferreira Silva broke Federico Agustin Gomez in the first game after multiple shifts of momentum. The Portuguese lost his own serve in the sixth game but recovered by breaking back in the ninth to win the opener.

The second set saw both players lose serve once, taking it to a tie-break which saw Federico Agustin Gomez save four match points before winning three consecutive points to win it 12-10 and force a decider.

In the final set, Frederico Ferreira Silva seized the early advantage after Federico Agustin Gomez dropped the service in the fourth game.

The Argentine, though, ensured that he didn’t go down without a fight by breaking back as Frederico Ferreira Silva served for the match.

However, Federico Agustin Gomez’s fightback was short-lived as the Portuguese broke back in the very next game to seal the match and the Chennai Open singles crown.

The Chennai Open was the second of the four ATP Challenger Tour events India will host in 2026.
