Nia Toliver put in yet another commendable performance to power Kolkata Banga Tigers to a comprehensive 33-26 win over Chennai Bulls in the women’s category on the econd day of the HSBC Rugby Premier League powered by Avid Season 2 at the Ganti Mohana Chandra Balayogi Athletic Stadium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad on Wednesday night.
Larah Wright gave Chennai Bulls an early lead before Nirmalya Rout levelled the scores for Kolkata Banga Tigers. Nia Toliver continued her fine form with a try in the second quarter, but Savannah Bauder responded to keep the Bulls level. Toliver then took control of the contest, completing a hat-trick as Kolkata built a decisive advantage. Kalyani Patil added another try in the final quarter, and despite a late score from Adia Pye, the Tigers held on for victory.

Mumbai Dreamers made a strong start as Marianela Escalante and Grace Okulu crossed over in the opening quarter to build an early lead. Delhi Redz responded through Lavena Cavuru and Eden Kilgour, who levelled the scores in the second half. After a closely fought third quarter, Yasmim Soares restored Mumbai’s advantage with a crucial try. Camilla Carvalho kept the Redz in contention with a late score, but the Dreamers held on for the win.
Chennai Bulls register narrow win over Kolkata Banga Tigers 26-24
In the men’s section, Vuiviwa Naduvalo gave Kolkata Banga Tigers a flying start, but Marika Koroibete quickly responded for Chennai Bulls. Naduvalo’s second try restored the Tigers’ lead before Tusitafu Toilolo and Mohit Khatri helped the Bulls take control in the second quarter. Kolkata fought back strongly in the final period through Lucas Lacamp and A Sooriyabandara to swing the game their way. However, Kamineli Rasaku scored a dramatic late try to snatch victory for the Bulls.
