Nagalakshmi wins gold, Dattu clinches silver while Jadhav and Raju win bronze at KITG

Nagalakshmi won the gold medal in the women’s 57 kg category of the wrestling competitions at the Khelo India Tribal Games in Surguja, Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

In the final, Telangana’s Nagalakshmi clinched a one-sided victory over Sai Siddhi of Karnataka. Nagalakshmi won 10-0.

Telangana team secured the runner-up position in the overall championship of the women’s wrestling category at the inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games.

Telangana wrestlers went on to win two more bronze medals in the men’s event.

In the men’s Greco-Roman 77 kg category, Jadhav Charan won a bronze medal. He defeated Hanish Kumar of Chhattisgarh 8-0 in the bronze medal bout. Tara Raju also secured a bronze medal in the Greco-Roman 135 kg Nordic category.

Meanwhile, in athletics, Sapavath Dattu achieved a notable feat by winning a silver medal in the 110-meter hurdles event held in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh.

Telangana sports minister Vakiti Srihari, Sports Authority of Telangana chairman Shivsena Reddy, MD Sonibala Devi lauded the wrestlers and athlete for their stupendous show.
