Mumbai scored a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Andhra in the BCCI Women’s One-day Tournament at the ACA Cricket Ground in Fulung, north Guwahati, on Thursday.

Mumbai skipper Sayali Satghare won the toss and invited the Andhra women to take first hit. Sayali made the first strike when she had P Ranga Lakshmi (7) caught by Sanika Chalke with Andhra on 14. Thereafter, Andhra were unable to put up good partnerships which could boost their total.

Setu Sai V (27), Henrietta Pereira (25) and E Padmaja (28) got starts but none of them could build on it and make it count. They meandered around and finally huffed and puffed their way to 173 in 48 overs. A Sireesha made an unbeaten 22.

Sayali finished with figures of three for 27, while Soumya Singh, P Naik and Jagravi Pawar bagged two wickets apiece.

Mumbai, on the other hand, rode on the 68-run opening partnership by Sanika Chalke (44) and Vrushali Bhagat (57) to reach 174 for three in 35.1 overs.

Brief scores: Andhra 173 in 48 overs (Setu Sai V 27, Henrietta Pereira 25, E Padmaja 28, A Sireesha 22 no; Sayali Satghare 3/27, Soumya Singh 2/26, P Naik 2/33, Jagravi Pawar 2/38) lost to Mumbai 174/3 in 35.1 overs (Sanika Chalke 44, Vrushali Bhagat 57, Sayali Satghare 27 not out).
