MLRIT felicitate Gopal Yadav for helping India win gold at South Asian Rockball Tournament

Gopal Yadav, a former student of MLR Institute of Technology (MLRIT), won a gold medal as part of the Indian team at the South Asian Rockball Tournament held in Nepal from June 28 to July 1, 2026.

On Thursday, MLRIT congratulated its alumnus Gopal Yadav, who hails from Puduru village, for bringing laurels to the state and nation.

Gopal Yadav, an MBA student (2017–2019 batch) at MLR Institute of Technology, represented India with distinction and played a vital role in the team’s gold medal-winning performance. His remarkable achievement has brought immense pride to the country, the institution, and his hometown.

MLR Institute of Technology had extended free admission under its Sports Quota scholarship to Gopal Yadav, recognizing his sporting talent and supporting his academic aspirations alongside his athletic career.

Congratulating the young champion, Marri Rajashekar Reddy, founder secretary, MLR Institute of Technology, and MLA, Malkajgiri, applauded Gopal’s outstanding accomplishment and felicitated him on behalf of the institution.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajashekar Reddy said: “Gopal Yadav’s success is a matter of immense pride for all of us. His dedication, discipline, and perseverance have earned him the honour of representing India and winning a gold medal on the international stage. We extend our heartfelt congratulations and wish him many more victories in the years to come.”

Reddy further emphasized MLRIT’s unwavering commitment to promoting sporting excellence by providing quality education to talented athletes through its Sports Quota scholarship.

“As an institution, we strongly believe that financial constraints should never become a barrier to talent. Every year, MLRIT supports deserving sportspersons by offering free education under the Sports Quota scholarship, amounting to nearly ₹1.5 crore,” he said.

“We will continue to encourage and nurture young athletes so they can excel both academically and internationally in sports,” Reddy added.

Nikhat Zareen too student of MLRIT

Rajashekar Reddy also highlighted the inspiring success of Nikhat Zareen, one of India’s most celebrated women boxers and an alumna of MLRIT, who joined the institution under the Sports Quota. Nikhat has gone on to become a two-time IBA Women’s World Boxing Champion (2022 and 2023), a Commonwealth Games gold medallist (2022), a Strandja Memorial gold medallist, and one of India’s leading international boxing icons.

Her journey reflects MLRIT’s long-standing commitment to identifying, supporting, and nurturing exceptional sporting talent.

The management, faculty, staff, students, and alumni of MLR Institute of Technology joined in congratulating Gopal Yadav and wished him continued success in his sporting career, expressing confidence that he will achieve even greater milestones while continuing to make India proud.
