Lucknow Super Giants’ skipper Rishabh Pant fined Rs 12L for maintaining a slow over-rate

Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has been fined Rs 12 lakh as his team maintained a slow over-rate during their match against Chennai Super Kings in Lucknow on Friday, according to an IPL release.

“Rishabh Pant, captain, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match No. 59 of TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Friday,” says the release.

“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 12 lakh,” it added.

Lucknow Super Giants, who are out of contention for the play-offs, marred Chennai Super Kings’ chances with a seven-wicket win.

Chennai Super Kings, batting first, made a modest 187 for  five with Kartik Sharma topscoring with 71 but the rest of the cast failed to really make it count.

Lucknow Super Giants then stormed to 188 for three with opener Mitchell Marsh hammering a 38-ball 90 with nine fours and seven sixes.
