Lalith and Rohan notch up record 419-run opening partnership in HCA C Division league

Gonugunta Lalith Narayan smashed an unbeaten double century and Jai Rohan struck a fine century on way to a record opening partnership which helped Young Citizen post a 327-run victory over Noble in the HCA’s C Division (one-day) League Championship at the New Maddies Cricket Ground-1 in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Batting first, Young Citizen ran up a huge total as they posted 443 for one in their 50 overs.

Jai Rohan and Lalith Narayan went after the rival attack from the word go. They toyed with the Noble bowlers as they smashed the cherry to all parts of the park.

The rampaging duo added 419 off just 297 balls for the opening wicket with Lalith Narayan getting 215 of those off 163 balls, while Jai Rohan helped himself to a 134-ball 161.

The onslaught was so terrible that the rival camp had to make everyone, barring the wicketkeeper, to bowl and break the partnership. The breakthrough for Noble came in the 49th over as Rohan was caught by Goutham Kumar off Kalavala Pardhu after striking 24 fours and a six in his 161.

In the process, the duo created an opening record partnership in HCA one day league championship.

Lalith Narayan remained unbeaten on 220 off 165 balls with 35 hits to the fence and two over it. UVJS Sarath struck a five-ball unbeaten 18 with a four and two sixes.

In reply, Noble were bowled out for 116 with only openers Vaiishno Dev (36) and M Vaibhav (35) reaching double figures. RVS Neeraj took four for 27 and R Ram Charan bagged three for 10.

SSR Akshath Thota 118 (147b, 11×4), Md Faiz Ahmed 113 (100b, 17×4, 2×6), Aarav Bhandari 109 (118b, 11×4), Kethan Sai Kumar 105 (127b, 14×4) and Saisuchit Reddy T 104 (130b,18×4) were the others who got centuries.

Shaik Mushaddiq bagged the bowling honours as he took seven for 18. Others to do well with the ball were: G Nikhil Sekhar (6/26), Ashvath R (5/28), Arnav Reddy M (5/33), J Dhanush Kumar (5/38), K Medhansh Reddy (5/41), Paula Moses (5/46) and T Bhairava Reddy (5/51).
