Kushal, Jashwanth, Shiva Rama Krishna, Advith, Suhas and Karthik hit centuries

Kushal Sheerla upstaged Jashwanth K to steer Team I to a five-wicket win over Team H in the HCA’s Under-19 one-day selections matches in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Even as the monsoon has taken a mild break, the batters made good use of the weather as it rained centuries in the selection matches. In all, six batters scored centuries as the bat dominated the ball.

Batting first, Team H could manage to make a modest 243 despite Jashwanth scored a 74-ball 105 with 12 fours and six sixes. M Durga Ujwal and Sri Harsha took three wickets apiece.

In reply, Team I reached 247 for five in 29.2 overs with Kushal in a blistering form. He struck 10 sixes and four boundaries in his 53-ball 102. M Durga Ujwal chipped in with 61 to cap a fine day on the field. Pranay Aheer took three for 39 for the losers.

T Shiva Rama Krishna hammered a century to help Team K score a 237-run win over Team G.

Shiva Rama Krishna was in fine fettle as he scored a superb 174 off 112 balls with 19 fours and 11 sixes to help Team K reach 420 for six. K Sai Nehal made 75, Kushal Tiwari 52 and B Sathwik 53 not out as Team K batters sent the rivals on a leather hunt.

In reply, Team G were shot out for 183 with Sesha Sarath, S Nipun Reddy and Satwik Swaraj taking three wickets each.

P Advith Reddy scored a century to power Team D to a five-wicket win over Team F.

Batting first, Team F could reach 270 thanks to half-centuries by Samith (71) and Harsh G (66). In reply, Team D made 261 for five as Advith Reddy scored 105 off 85 balls with 11 fours and two sixes. Hari Om Singh made 68.

J Sai Suhas struck a century to set up Team J’s 41-run win over Team L. Sai Suhas made 103 off 115 balls with 14 boundaries to help Team J reach 318 for six. B Abhishek Yadav scored 51.

In reply, Team L were restricted to 277 for six despite half-centuries by Jashwanth Mote (62), B Sakshith Ram (70) and Thakshil E (86).

K Karthik Reddy scored a century to set up Team B’s 67-run win over Team C in a keenly fought contest.

Batting first, Team B scored 288 for eight with K Karthik Reddy getting 110 off 133 balls with 13 fours and three sixes. Tanay Jaddu made an unbeaten 52.

In reply, Team C were bowled out for 221 as Tanay Jaddu took four for 40 and Aaryan Rathi bagged three for 34. V Nishanth Kumar made 61 for the losers.
