As part of the preparations for the 8th Edition of the Khelo India Youth Games–2026, to be hosted by Telangana, a team of officials from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) conducted inspections of sports facilities in Medchal–Malkajgiri, Karimnagar and Hanumakonda districts on Wednesday.
The SAI delegation, led by executive director Amar Jyoti and comprising assistant directors Madhu Harsha, Gopal Kandpal and Mohit, visited the Hakimpet Sports School, Karimnagar Sports School, Satavahana University, Dr B R Ambedkar Stadium in Karimnagar, and various sports venues under the Sports Authority of Telangana in Hanumakonda.
During the visit, the team reviewed the sports infrastructure and facilities in detail, assessing their readiness to host the Khelo India Youth Games. The officials also evaluated the amenities available for athletes, technical officials and visitors.
The SAI members directed the officials to undertake necessary repairs and upgrade infrastructure wherever required to ensure that all venues meet the standards for hosting the prestigious national event.
The inspection was attended by deputy directors Ravinder, Raviteja and Ashok Kumar; engineering department officials Srinivas and Sandeep; Hakimpet Sports School OSD Mamata; Karimnagar District DYSO Srinivas; Hanumakonda District DYSO Prashanth; coaches and physiotherapists of the Sports Authority; and officials and staff of the Telangana Khelo India Cell.
The SAI team will continue its inspection programme on Thursday with a visit to Mahabubnagar district to review sports infrastructure and venue preparedness.
