In the quest to promote health and fitness, Kamineni East Hyderabad Half Marathon 2025, the annual running event of the LB Nagar Runners group, will be held on December 28. Over 2000 runners are expected to take part this year.
The run (like last year) will start from the Unicent School inside the Vanasthali Hills. It will then pass through the Vanasthali Hills layout to the Kuntloor Nursery junction and then towards the Kuntloor village. Competitions will be held in various categories like 5K, 10K, 16K and 21K and it will be an untimed run. This run is for everyone – people from all walks of life can join us. And people can jog or walk or run to finish their targeted distances.
Like every year, a lot of walkers and runners from the surrounding colonies and apartment communities in East Hyderabad are expected to participate in large numbers along with the running community in Hyderabad. The objective is to bring quality running events to East Hyderabad and this event is a step towards this endeavor.
To build up the momentum, a blood donation camp will be held on December 7. Also, all the event volunteers will be given CPR training by Kamineni Hospitals. The event organisers will also plant 100 saplings through a unique Tree for Tee initiative where runners can choose to contribute towards planting a tree/sapling. These will be planted around the Mansoorabad Peddacheruvu premises and these plants will be geo-tagged on the names of the donors. Last year, 50 trees were planted.
The LB Nagar Runners group was founded in 2011 as a subgroup of the larger Hyderabad Runners community. Since 2011, they have been hosting an annual run (back then, it was only a Sunday long run) for the running community in the city. It was then called the Nagole Forest Run.
