It is going to be an all Gowtham affair in the final of the HCA’s Under-15 Inter-Schools & Districts One-day Knock-out Tournament. Gowtham Model School (West Marredpally) scored a crushing 224-run win over Academic Heights Public School and Gowtham World School (Saroornagar) posted a thumping seven-wicket win over Pallavi Model School (Alwal) in the semifinals on Friday.
Gowtham Model School’s Akhileshwar scored 115
Akhileshwar and G Sai Vaibhav hammered centuries to set up Gowtham Model School’s win. Batting first, Gowtham Model School ran up a huge 369 for three in their 50 overs. Left-handed Akhileshwar slammed 17 boundaries as he scored 115 off 101 balls. Vaibhav remained unconquered on 112 off 101 balls. His knock contained 14 fours and a six. P Rohit scored a handy 75 to bolster the total.
After the bashing received at the hands of the Gowtham Model School batters, Academic Heights Public School lost the stomach to fight it out. They caved in without much ado to be bowled out for 145 in 36.5 overs.
In the second semifinal, Pallavi Model School, batting first, were bundled out for just 140 with M Aryan bagging three for 19. CH Anirudh waged a lone battle with a composed 63. He failed to garner support from the other end and Pallavi were bowled out for a below par score.
The target was never going to bother Gowtham World School batters, who went about their task in the most methodical manner. P Naksh Reddy scored an unbeaten 53 and D Arjun Mahadev was not out on 35 as Gowtham World School made 141 for three in 39.2 overs.
Brief scores (semifinals): Gowtham Model School (West Marredpally) 369/3 in 50 overs (Akhileshwar 115, K Sai Smaran Reddy 31, G Sai Vaibhav 112 no, P Rohit 75) beat Academic Heights Public School 145 in 36.5 overs (Maanvik M 30, P Anirudh Goud 36, T Nikhil 3/30). Pallavi Model School (Alwal) 140 in 44.4 overs (CH Anirudh 63, M Aryan 3/19) lost to Gowtham World School (Saroornagar) 141/3 in 39.2 overs (P Naksh Reddy 53 no, D Arjun Mahadev 35 no).
Sportive, Ensconse post easy wins in quarterfinals
Md Abrar Mohiuddin set up Sportive’s five-wicket victory over Khammam District in the quarterfinals of the HCA’s B Division T20 League-cum-Knock-out Tournament.
Batting first, Khammam District managed to reach 132 in their 20 overs with M Tejaram scoring 63. Mohiuddin took four for 22 to peg the Khammam progress.
In reply, Sportive made 133 for five with four balls to spare. CPS Karthikeya topscored with 45 and C Siddharth Rao made 36.
In another match, Md Junai Ali scored an unbeaten half-century to power Ensconse to a seven-wicket over Apex.
Apex, batting first, were shot out for a lowly 105 with Syed Ghazi Abbas taking three for 11. Sai Ram topscored with 34.
Ensconse replied with 109 for three in just 8.5 overs as Junai made 65.
Brief scores (quarterfinals): Khammam District 132 in 20 overs (M Tejaram 63, Md Abrar Mohiuddin 4/22) lost to Sportive 133/5 in 19.2 overs (CPS Karthikeya C 45, C Siddharth Rao 36). Apex 105 in 19.4 overs (Sai Ram 34, Syed Ghazi Abbas 3/11) lost to Ensconse 109/3 in 8.5 overs (Md Junai Ali 65no).
