The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India, will conduct a Boys Sports Cadets selection rally from April 6 to 9, 2026, at the Madras Regimental Centre.
The primary objective of this selection rally is to identify talented young athletes in the field of athletics and provide them with professional training to help them excel at national and international levels.
Eligibility criteria
Candidates willing to participate in the rally must be between 13 to 16 years of age. Only those born between April 6, 2010 and April 6, 2013 are eligible. Applicants should have passed at least 7th standard and must meet the prescribed physical and medical standards. Relaxation in age and other criteria may be granted to candidates who have demonstrated excellence at national or international levels.
Reporting details
Candidates are required to report at Black Bridge, Wellington, Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, at 7:00 am on April 6, 2026.
Selection process
The selection will be conducted in a transparent manner by coaches from the Sports Authority of India and officials of the Indian Army. The multi-stage selection process will include physical fitness tests and sports skill assessments.
Facilities for selected candidates
Selected cadets will be provided with free boarding and lodging, nutritious diet, education from Class 7 to Class 12, and high-quality sports training. They will also get opportunities to participate in competitions across the country. In addition, sports kits and medical insurance will be provided.
Important instructions
Candidates must bring original and photocopies of the following documents: Birth Certificate, Aadhaar Card, Educational Certificates, Residence Certificate, Character Certificate, Passport-size photographs, and Sports Certificates (if any). Candidates must make their own arrangements for accommodation and food during the rally period. The selection will be provisional and subject to final approval.
