Hyderabad thrash Assam by eight wickets

As expected Hyderabad rolled over Assam as they posted a thumping eight-wicket victory with a day to spare in their Col CK Nayudu Trophy at the RGIC Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Skipper P Aman Rao led from the front as he scored half-century to set up the victory. After bowling out Assam for 186, Hyderabad need 140 for victory and they did that losing two wickets in the process.

Hyderabad lost opener Aravelly Avanish (7) with 17 on the board but Aman Rao and Pattapu Raghava added 122 for the second wicket to settle the issue.

Aman scored 85 off 72 balls with nine fours and six before falling to Rajesh Prasad. Raghava remained unbeaten on 41 off 73 balls with a four and two sixes.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 40 for one, Assam immediately lost Hrishikesh Borah who was caught by wicketkeeper Avanish off Dinesh Rathod for 16. Five balls later, Rathod struck again as he had Pradyun Saikia (4) caught by Vignesh Reddy.

In the next over, MA Malik had Rajveeer Singh (27) caught behind by Avanish to reduce Assam to 48 for four. Assam never recovered from those early blows. Saurav Mousum Dihingia and Roshan Topno added 55 runs for the fifth wicket before Roshan (10) was caught by Raghava off Nitin Sai Yadav.

Saurav too fell soon thereafter for a topscore of 53 off 45 balls with nine fours and two sixes.

Ayushman Malakar hit 35 off 51 balls with five fours and a six and Bhargab Pratim Lahkar made 20 to delay the inevitable. Assam were bowled out for 186 in 47.1 overs. Nitin Sai Yadav took four for 33.
