Hyderabad score a crushing innings and 31-run victory over Pondicherry in U-14 tourney

Hyderabad scored an innings and 31-run victory over Pondicherry in the South Zone Under-14 Inter-State Tournament at Vizianagaram on Friday.

On the first day, Hyderabad made 214 with CV Chetan Anand scoring 50 and CH Ritesh Reddy getting 44. Skipper G Rakesh Shekar helped himself to 43. Pondicherry’s S Rishi Varma took five for 61 to restrict the Hyderabad total.

However, Pondicherry put up a poor show with the bat in both their innings. In the first innings, they were bundled out for 95 with Umesh Thotakura and Utkarsh bagging three wickets apiece.

They fared even worse in the second innings as they were bowled out for 88 with Umesh Thotakura taking five for 16. R Yogeshwaran made 37 for the losers.

Brief scores: Hyderabad 214 in 62.5 overs (G Rakesh Shekar 43, CV Chetan Anand 50, CH Ritesh Reddy 44; S Rishi Varma 5/61) beat Pondicherry 95 in 56.3 overs (Umesh Thotakura 3/15, Utkarsh 3/32) & 88 in 32.1 overs (R Yogeshwaran 37, Umesh Thotakura 5/16).
