Hyderabad lock horns with CFI in final

Hyderabad scored an 80-run win over Telangana to reach the final of the 19th All India Rajiv Gandhi Under-19 Twenty-20 Cricket Championship. Hyderabad will meet CFI in the final to be played at the LB Stadium on Saturday.

In the first semifinal at the LB Stadium on Friday, Hyderabad, batting first, scored 163 for seven in just 12 overs. Sai Sharan Ravuri made a quickfire 72 off just 27 balls and struck five sixes and seven fours. He was ably supported by Karan Yadav (33), Aditya (26) and Anvith Reddy (17). For Telangana, Adarsh Deshmukh took four wickets.

In reply, Telangana could muster only 83 in 11.1 overs as Bharat Annamraj took four wickets and Rahul Khartikeya and Kunde Pavan Kumar bagged two wickets apiece. Sai Sharan Ravuri won the Man of the Match award for his swashbuckling half-century.

In the second semifinal at the Amberpet Water Works, CFI scored a narrow 17-run win over Karnataka. Batting first, CFI made 162 for eight in 18 overs with Jaydev scoring 34 and Syed Ubaid making 24. They were supported by R Prudhvishwar (23), Maddela Dhanush (19) and Jeevan (19). Sai took three wickets for Karnataka, while AM Janav claimed two wickets.

In reply, Karnataka fought valiantly but could reach only 145 for nine wickets in 18 overs. Kshitij Singhania made a valiant 69 but his efforts went in vain. Barath (29), Ronak (20 and Murli Krishna (13) were among the runs. K Manvith Yadav and Akshay Kumar took two wickets apiece for the winners.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will be the chief guest at the final and will give away the trophies and prizes to the winners.

Brief scores (semifinals): Hyderabad 163/7 in 12 overs (Sai Sharan Ravuri 72, Karan Yadav 33, Aditya 26, Anvith Reddy 17) beat Telangana 83 in 11.1 overs (Ram Charan Markatta 17, Chirag Yadav 17).  CFI 162/8 in 18 overs (Jaydev 34, Syed Ubaid 24, R Prudhvishwar 23, Maddela Dhanush 19, Jeevan 19) beat Karnataka 145/9 in 18 overs (Kshitij Singhania 69, Barath 29, Ronak 20, Murli Krishna 13).

Navanith, David, Sainad & Thakshil shine in Kaka Memorial

Thakshil Eroju scored a half-century to set up Karimnagar’s nine-run win over Warangal in the Kaka Venkataswamy Memorial Telangana Inter-District T20 League Phase ll tournament in Warangal on Friday.

Batting first, Karimnagar made 153 for six thanks to Thakshil Eroju’s 56. Karimnagar then restricted Warangal to 144 with D Srikanth Reddy bagging three for 12.

In another match, Navanith Rao missed out on a century, but his effort was enough for Ranga Reddy to score a 29-run win over Khammam. Navanith made 91 to help Ranga Reddy reach 174 for nine. Khammam, in reply, were bowled out for 145 despite Mohammd Rizwan making 62.

Sainad Pagidimarri scored an unbeaten half-century to steer Nalgonda to a five-wicket win over Mahbubnagar. Chasing 182 for victory, Nalgonda reached the target losing five wickets in 17.5 overs. Sainad made an unbeaten 73. Earlier, David Kripal Roy scored 85 to take Mahbubnagar to 181.

Brief scores: Karimnagar 153/6 in 20 overs (Thakshil Eroju 56) beat Warangal 144 in 19.3 overs (Chandra 39, Nikshith 39, D Srikanth Reddy 3/12). Ranga Reddy 174/9 in 20 overs (Navanith Rao 91) beat Khammam 145 in 17.5 overs (Mohammed Rizwan 62). Medak 119 / in 20 overs (P Lohith Reddy 37, Naveen Kumar 3/11, Lalith Reddy 3/19, M Sai Pratheek 3/23) lost to Nizamabad 121/3 in 16.3 overs (Srikar Reddy Yedla 36, Harshwardhan Singh 31). Mahbubnagar 181 in 19.4 overs (David Kripal Roy 85, Mohd Shadab Ahmed 33, Sikandar Mohammad 3/25) lost to Nalgonda 182/5 in 17.5 overs (Sainad Pagidimarri 73 no).
