Hyderabad Black Hawks, a franchise of the Prime Volleyball League (PVL), made a winning start to their campaign in the Under-21 Goa Guardians Trophy, which began in Goa on Friday.
In their opening match against Bengaluru, Hyderabad registered a convincing 3–0 victory. Hyderabad won the three sets 15–8, 15–13 and 16–14 to complete a straight-set victory.
A total of 10 teams from the Prime Volleyball League are participating in the tournament. The Goa Guardians Trophy is expected to provide an excellent platform for young volleyball players to showcase their talent and gain valuable competitive experience.
Four Telugu players in Hyderabad squad
Hyderabad Black Hawks had recently identified talented Telugu volleyball players during the Under-21 trials held in Vijayawada.
Around 180 players registered for the trials, while 105 players participated in the selection process. Following the trials, 12 promising players were selected for the final squad, including four talented players from Telugu-speaking states.
Karthik from Guntur, Dheeman from Visakhapatnam, Srunik from Peddapalli and Akshith from Warangal have earned a place in the Hyderabad Black Hawks squad.
Along with them, Shubham Yadav (Uttar Pradesh), Deepak (Haryana), Ayaz Ahmed (Jammu & Kashmir), Sarthak (Madhya Pradesh), Pratik (Karnataka), Suresh Kumar (Tamil Nadu), Rizwan (Tamil Nadu) and Shankar (Tamil Nadu) also impressed during the trials and secured their places in the team.
