Harshit Rana ruled out of T20 World Cup, ICC approves Mohd Siraj named as replacement

India pacer Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after sustaining a knee injury during the warm-up match against South Africa in Navi Mumbai on February 4.

After consultations with a specialist and subsequent scans, the BCCI medical team deemed him unfit to participate in the tournament. The team management wishes him a speedy recovery.  Mohd Siraj will join the team as Harshit’s replacement in the squad.

The ICC in a release said the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 had approved Mohammad Siraj as a replacement for Harshit Rana in the India squad.

Fast bowler Siraj, who has played 45 Tests, 50 ODIs and 16 T20Is, was named as a replacement after Rana was ruled out with an injury.

The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee (ETC) before the player can be officially added to the squad.

The ETC of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 consists of Wasim Khan – ICC General Manager – Cricket (ICC Representative), Gaurav Saxena (IBC Representative), Hemang Amin (Host Representative), Shaun Pollock (Independent Representative).

India’s updated squad: Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel (VC), Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Washington Sundar, Mohd Siraj.
