Harsha Oruganti and Satya Parthiv Chintaguta won the Under-16 girls’ and boys’ singles titles at the AITA National Series Under-16 boys and girls ‘tournament at the Sania Mirza Tennis Academy in Hyderabad.
In the girls’ singles final, Harsha Oruganti had an easy outing against Aayushri Tarange. Harsha won in straight sets as Aayushri failed to put up a fight. Harsha won 6-1, 6-2 to emerge champion.
In the semifinals, Harsha put paid to Pooja Nagraj’s hopes with a straight sets win. Harsha proved quite a handful for her opponent as she cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Aayushri, on the other hand, was tested in the first set by K Ilaiyanila but came through unscatched. Aayushri won the first set 6-3 and took the next one with relative ease at 6-1.
Satya fights past Sujai
In the boys’ final, Satya Parthiv Chintaguta got past a fighting Sujai Pothula in a tough three-set contest. Satya Parthiv and Sujai Pothula put up a super show in the first set with both players dishing out their best.
Satya managed to take the first set at 6-4 but faltered in the second one. Sujai stepped up the pace and caught Satya off guard. Sujai won the second set 6-2 and pushed the final into the decider.
In the final set, Satya tightened his belt and carved out a 6-2 win to claim the title.

In the semifinals, Sujai got past Pothunoori Vanij Aryan 6-3, 6-2 and Satya had no issue in taming Aarav Patel 6-2, 6-0.
The boys’ doubles title was bagged by Maharashtra’s Ansh Ramani and Aarav Patel who defeated Telangana’s Nikunj Khurana and Jeebu Siddarth 6-4, 6-4.
The girls’ doubles title was won by Pooja Nagaraj and K Ilaiyanila of Karnataka who were given a walkover by Shaurya Patil of Madhya Pradesh and Vaidehi Shinde of Maharashtra.
