Gowtham batters make merry; Devashvith, Yashvardhan, Riyan, Jathin hit double tons

Gowtham World School (Saroornagar) batters made merry on way to a thumping 558-run victory over Johnson Grammar School in the HCA’s Under-16 Inter-schools & colleges knock-out tournament in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

It turned out to be a literal massacre of the lambs as the Gowtham World School batters slayed the rival bowling attack to score a mammoth 600 for five in 45 overs. Four of their batters notched up centuries as the rival bowlers had no answer for the onslaught.

Batting first, Gowtham went on a rampage and piled up the runs. Sreekurthan Alladi made 101 off 58 balls with 17 fours, Shreyas Ande scored 114 off 61 balls with 20 fours and a six, Smyan Bharadwaj hit 113 off 48 balls with 15 fours and five sixes, while Aaryan Rath struck 110 off 54 balls with 17 fours and two sixes. Mokhisth Gandham remained unbeaten on 55.

In reply, Johnson Grammar School were bundled out for 42 as Venkat S took five for 20 and Sai Vishwak bagged three for two.

Yashvardhan

Devashvith Yadav’s all-round show helped St Joseph School (Habsiguda) score a 279-run win over Gowtham Junior College (Trimulagiri).

Sreekurthan Alladi

Devashvith scored a blistering 202 off just 93 balls with 27 fours and 11 sixes as St Joseph ran up 441 for seven. Deep Thanush made 96. Ram Charan grabbed five wickets for 35 runs for the losers.

In reply, Gowtham JC were bowled out for 162 with Devashvith taking five for 40.

Yashvardhan was the second double centurion of the day as GD Goenka HS scored a 468-run win over National School. Yashvardhan made 233 off 161 balls with 33 fours and a six as Goenka ran up 495 for seven. In reply, National School were bowled out for 27 with Adhwik getting five for four.

Shreyas Ande

D Mehmoodi Riyan Syed was the third double centurion as his knock set up Crescent High School’s (Hafeez Baba Nagar) 331-run win over Pearson School (Kompally).

Smyan Bharadwaj

Riyan hit an unbeaten 211 off 125 balls with 28 fours and five sixes as Crescent ran up 449 for three. Ritvik Reddy B missed out on a century by three runs.

In reply, Pearson were bowled out for 118 with Md Ruhaan Ali bagging six for 26.

Jathin Sharma was the fourth batter to notch up a double century on the day as Hidayah Islamic International School (Mehdipatnam) posted a 419-run win over Swaminarayan Gurukul International School.

P Sairam

Jathin made 250 off 138 balls with 30 fours and 11 sixes and P Sairam scored 118 off 62 balls with 14 fours and four sixes as Hidayah posted 519 for seven. In reply, Swaminarayan were bowled out for 100 as Utkarsh took five for 37.

Utkarsh Bhave

Sachin Bishnoi took seven wickets in 3.2 overs while giving away three runs to set up Army Public School’s (Bolarum) 10-wicket win over Mahabodhi Vidyalaya (Venkatapuram). Mahabodi were bowled out for 20 in 7.2 overs and Army Public School made 21 for no loss.

Arush Ainchwar took seven for 19 to set up Cal Public School’s (Kapra) 10-wicket win over Meridian School (Chengicherla).

Sachin Bishnoi

Other batters to do well were Naga Venkata Siddhartha 113 (110 balls, 16×4), G Vihaan 110 (78 balls, 18×4), Utkarsh Bhave 107 (103 balls, 14×4, 2×6).
