Purvaja P Verlekar smashed an unbeaten century to set up Goa’s 51-run win over Hyderabad in the BCCI Senior Women One-day Trophy in Ranchi on Sunday.
Electing to bat, Goa were off to a good start and built their foundation on Purvaja’s swashbuckling innings. Purvaja remained unconquered on 166 off 152 balls with 19 fours and two sixes. She was ably supported by Poorva Bhaidkar who made 37 and Tanisha who scored 35.
In reply, Hyderabad could manage 243 but were well short of the target. Sandhya Gora yet again showcased his batting skills but lacked support from the others. She topscored with 83 and G Trisha scored 33. Shrey took three for 35 for Goa.
Brief scores: Goa 294/8 in 50 overs (Purvaja P Verlekar 166no, Tanisha 35, Poorva Bhaidkar 37) beat Hyderabad 243 in 46.5 overs (G Trisha 33, Sandhya Gora 83; Shrey 3/35).

Chandigarh girls thrash Hyderabad B team
Chandigarh scored a 63-run win over Hyderabad ‘B’ in the Under-19 practice match in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Batting first, Chandigarh made 183 with Taisha M scoring 45 and Nitika making an unbeaten 35. Varsha took three for 3/31. In reply, Hyderabad were bowled out for 120 with Tanisha taking three for 21 and Taisha M bagging three for 30.
