Nithyasheelan, a former national football player, passed away at the age of 57. Nithyasheelan had represented the undivided state of Andhra Pradesh in the Sub-Junior National Championship at Dhanbad in 1988.
Nithyasheelan is survived by his wife, two sons, and one daughter.
The Telangana Football Association (TFA) expressed deep anguish by the untimely death of Nithyasheelan. On Thursday morning, at the Gymkhana Football Ground Under-20 camp, a two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect. During the C Division Football League matches as well, a two-minute silence were observed in honour of Nithyasheelan’s contribution to the sport.
In the evening, a condolence meeting was held at the TFA office and was attended by coaches, referees, and office bearers to honour his memory.
The TFA officials extended their heartfelt condolences to Nithyasheelan’s family. “His passion, dedication, and contribution to football will always be remembered,” says a TFA release.
