East Marredpally Cricket Club (EMCC) scored a thumping innings and 88-run victory over Gemini Friends to reach the final of the HCA A Division (2-Day) League Championship at the Gymkhana ground in Secunderabad on Thursday.
Resuming at their overnight score of 231 for five, Gemini Friends went on make 286 in 62.5 overs. Owais, who was on 76, went on to make an unbeaten 109 and Mohd Taha Sheikh progressed from 47 to 68. Ansh Chaturvedi took four for 60 for the winners.
In the other semifinal, Evergreen went on to do better than their first innings as they scored 438 for seven in their allotted 90 overs. P Sai Vikas Reddy hammered a 137-ball 170 with 11 fours and nine sixes and Mayank Gupta struck a more patient 122, which came off 245 balls and contained 10 fours and two sixes.
Deccan Wanderers will have a tough task on hand on the final day of play as they will have to make 468 for a win.

Houzef, Sekhar, Rajkumar slam centuries; Mahesh pull off a thriller
Mirza Houzef Baig hammered a century to help Nizam CC score an eight-wicket win over Southern Star in the C Division one-day league championship. Batting first, Southern Star were restricted to 157 and Nizam replied with 158 for two as Baig struck 18 fours and a six in his 98-ball unbeaten 122.
Elsewhere, the game between Mahesh and Sagar XI turned out to be thrilling affair. Two centuries and two four-wicket hauls were recorded in the game and at the end of it, Mahesh won by five runs.
Batting first, Mahesh ran up 295 thanks to ASS Sekhar’s 97-ball 131 with contained 11 fours and nine sixes. N Saketh took four for 31. In reply, Sagar XI managed 290 for nine despite Rajkumar scoring 104 off 122 balls with nine fours. KB Vinay Kiran took four for 53.
