Dheeraj bowls Team F to 235-run victory; Aaron, Pragnay, Tarun and Shaunak shine

M Dheeraj Rao took five wickets to help Team F score a 235-run win over Team H in the HCA’s Senior Men’s Super League at the ROKO cricket ground in Hyderabad on Thursday.

After grabbing a 127-run first innings lead, Team F scored 354 in their second innings.

Set a target of 482 for victory, Team H, who made a paltry 99 in their first innings, were unable to make a fight of the game. They folded up for 246 with M Dheeraj Rao taking five for 76. Madhukar Manne topscored with 63, while A Avanish Rao made 57 and Mickil Jaiswal got 46.

Aaron George

Sai Pragnay Reddy’s 162 off 208 balls with 17 fours and six sixes helped Team E take a 20-run lead over Team G. Rahul Buddhi made 66. Tarun Rajan had taken six for 60 for Team G.

However, Team G came back strongly in the second innings with Aaron George hitting a century. Aaron George, who has already hit a century in the Super League, made it count in the second innings after missing out in the first. He made 119 off 129 balls with 13 fours and a six as Team G reached 227 for two at stumps. G Ritish Reddy made 60.

At the Dr N Kondal Rao cricket stadium, Team D need 27 runs for victory against Team A. Team D were 36 for one at stumps.

Team A, 169 runs in arrears, failed to put up a fight in the second innings too. They were bowled out for 231 with Sunkari Dheeraj (61) the only batter to offer some resistance. Harish Sai Y took three for 46 and TVS Narayan Teja bagged three for 45.

At the HPS Begumpet ground, Team C were in a lot of trouble against Team B.

Replying to Team B’s mammoth 600, Team C were bowled out for 242 in their first innings as Shaunak Kulkarni took five for 40.

Asked to follow-on, Team B made a better start with opener M Abhirath Reddy scoring 59 but they were trailing at 129 for three at stumps. They still need 229 runs to make Team B bat again.

Brief scores: Team F 226 in 73.5 overs & 354 in 64.2 overs beat Team H 99 in 26 overs & 246 in 39.2 overs (A Avanish Rao 57, Mickil Jaiswal 46, Madhukar Manne 63no, M Dheeraj Rao 5/76).

Team G 342 in 107.5 overs & 227/2 in 53 overs (G Ritish Reddy 60, Aaron George 119) vs Team E 362 in 95.3 overs (Sai Pragnay Reddy 162, Rahul Buddhi 66, Tarun Rajan 6/60, Saqlain Arafat 3/75).

Team A 348 in 83 overs & 231 in 50.5 overs (Sacheit Binjrajka 39, S Dheeraj 61, Harshit Sai 3/46, TVS Narayana Reja 3/45) vs Team D 460 in 94.1 overs (Harshith Sai 39, Nishanth Saranu 4/91) & 36/1 in 11 overs.

Team B 600 in 138.3 overs vs Team C 242 in 77.1 overs (Nihaal Reddy 44, Nihaal Reddy 44, Yash Satwalekar 37, SM Hussain 54, Shaunak Kulkarni 5/40) & 129/3 in 35 overs (M Abhirath Reddy 59).

Abdul Rafeay hits patient century

Abdul Rafeay Bin Abdullah hit an unbeaten century to rescue Team B against Team C in the Under-23 Emerging multi-day tournament.

Batting first, Team B were in all sorts of trouble, but Abdul Rafeay held one end up and batted resolutely.

Team B began soundly with openers Ashish Sawariya (49) and Mohammed Samad (31) adding 74 for the opening wicket before the latter fell. Ashish too departed with the score reading 92 and, thereafter, Team B lost their way.

Abdul Rafeay and G Sai Akshat Goud (27) added 64 for the fifth wicket to stem the rot. Abdul Rafeay then added 55 for the eighth wicket with Sri Sathvik K (30) to help his side near the 300-run mark.

At stumps on the first day, Team B were 299 for nine with Abdul Rafeay batting on 129 off 221 balls with 19 fours. M Koushik Reddy bagged four for 55 for Team C.
