All speculations and clamour for conducting elections to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) was on Thursday put to rest by the Telangana High Court.

The Telangana High Court, in its order dated October 29, 2026, in IA No. 3 of 2026 in WP No. 21904 of 2025, has permitted the existing elected members of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) Apex Council, whose three-year tenure ended on October 21, 2026, to continue functioning as an interim in-charge arrangement.

The High Court directed that the Apex Council shall continue functioning under the supervision of the Single Member Committee, strictly in accordance with its earlier directions dated April 24, 2026, until the membership verification exercise is completed and elections are conducted in accordance with the applicable rules.

“Permission is hereby granted to the existing elected members of the Apex Council, whose three-year term has run its course on 21st October, 2026, to continue functioning as an interim in-charge arrangement under the supervision of the Single Member Committee and in strictly in terms of the directions of this Court in W.P. No. 21904 of 2025, dated 24.04.2026, until the membership verification exercise is completed and elections are conducted in accordance with the applicable rules,” said the court in its order.

HCA club secretaries request Single Man Committee to hold SGM & AGM at the earliest

The High Court also, in IA No. 2 of 2026, permitted the constitution of a committee under the supervision of the SMC for the pre-electoral process. “Permission is hereby granted for constitution of Committee under the supervision of Single Member Supervisory Committee to monitor compliance with the recommendations of Justice L Nageswara Rao, dated 29.10.2023 and oversee the pre-electoral process of HCA.

The court also granted permission to the SMC to either appoint a new CEO or to grant extension to the incumbent CEO. “Permission is hereby granted to the Single Member Supervisory Committee either to appoint a new CEO, or, in the alternative, permit the Single Member Supervisory Committee to extend the tenure of the existing CEO for a limited transitional period,” the court stated in its order.

On Wednesday, some of the HCA club secretaries had asked the SMC to call for immediate SGM and AGM so that elections could be held at the earliest. The HC order is a big blow to the secretaries who have been seeking an early election.

It is not up to the SMC to look into all aspects especially the membership issue before calling for election. How long this process will take is anyone’s guess now.
