Chennai Singams down Tiigers of Kolkata by 29 runs, emerge as champs of ISPL Season 3

Chennai Singams clinched their first-ever ISPL trophy after defeating Tiigers of Kolkata in the final of the Indian Street Premier League Season 3 at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat.

Chennai Singams put up a mammoth total of 103/7 in the first innings and restricted Tiigers of Kolkata for 74/9, winning the final by 29 runs and lifting their first-ever Indian Street Premier League title.

Captain Ankur Singh won the toss and elected to bat first in the thrilling final. Chennai Singams opened their batting with the duo of Jaganath Sarkar and Vice-Captain Ketan Mhatre. The openers started with an aggressive approach in the powerplay by scoring 34 runs. Ketan Mhatre smacked 23 runs in the 2 nd over comprising of 2 boundaries, 1 six and a 9 Street Runs.

Ketan & Jagannath stitched a partnership of 43 runs before Jagannath was dismissed by Firdos Alam. In the 50-50 Challenge Over, Chennai Singams lost 2 wickets in the form of Ketan Mhatre and Aman Yadav, but Sarfraz Khan and Mohammed Nadeem scored 10 runs in the remaining 4 balls of Saroj Paramanik’s over which resulted in total 15 runs. In the 7 th over, Sarfraz Khan smashed massive 9 Street Runs in Shivam Kumar’s 2nd over.

Chennai Singams lost Mohammed Nadeem in the 8th over. Sambhaji Patil was announced as the Googly Impact Sub in the first innings. Sambhaji Patil & Ganesh finished the innings of Chennai Singams on 103/7.

Defending the score of 103, Chennai Singams’ Golden Arm Jagannath Sarkar dismissed Saroj Paramanik for just 11 runs in the ISPL Swing Ball Over which gave them the first breakthrough. Ashish Pal dismissed Kiran Pawar in the 4 th over which put the Tiigers of Kolkata in a spot of bother. Jagannath Sarkar finished his magical and economical spell conceding just 4 runs in his 2 overs.

Ankur Singh bowled the 50-50 Challenge Over, where he used his experience and dismissed Rajat Mundhe. Chennai Singams’ Go-to-Pacer Anurag Sarshar got rid of in-form Krushna Gawali on the very first ball of his spell. Tiigers of Kolkata kept losing wickets on regular basis in the final match, kudos to a team effort by the pace attack of Chennai Singams. Chennai Singams restricted Tiigers of Kolkata for 74/9, won by 29 runs and emerged as the New Champions of Indian Street Premier League Season 3.

Jagannath Sarkar was named as the Most Valuable Player of ISPL Season 3.
