Cambridge XI and Deccan Wanderers post easy victories

Cambridge XI and Deccan Wanderers romped to easy victories in the semifinals of the HCA’s A Division one-day league-cum-knock-out tournament in Hyderabad on Friday. Cambridge XI thumped East Marredpally by nine wickets and Deccan Wanderers posted an eight-wicket victory over Sporting XI.

Batting first, Sporting XI made a competitive 282 in 49 overs with Jasmeet Nain slamming a 98-ball 152. His knock was studded with 13 fours and 10 sixes. Shaik Sohail chipped in with 53, while B Rathan Teja made 40. Tejavath Harish took three for 51 for Wanderers.

In reply, Wanderers made 283 for two in 38.4 overs. Rishiket Sisodia hammered 15 boundaries and hit 11 over the fence in his 89-ball 161. P Nitish Reddy remained unbeaten on 52 and M Vasu Deva Raju was on 41 when the winning runs were scored.

In the other semifinal, East Marredpally, batting first, ran up 290 for seven thanks to CP Venkatesh’s 126, which came off 122 balls and contained seven fours and five sixes. S Rohit Reddy contributed 55 and Aashlesh Vaman made 30. K Ranjith Kumar took three for 52 for Cambridge XI

N Rakesh and Shashank Lokesh hammered centuries to power Cambridge XI to 293 for one in 44.1 overs. Rakesh made an unbeaten 116 off 125 balls with 12 fours and Lokesh scored a 90-ball 103 which contained 15 hits to the fence. Sunkari Dheeraj remained not out on 62.

East Marredpally 290/7 in 50 overs (Aashlesh Vaman 30, CP Venkatesh 126, S Rohit Reddy 55, K Ranjith Kumar 3/52) lost to Cambridge XI 293/1 in 44.1 overs (N Rakesh 116no, Shashank Lokesh 103, Sunkari Dheeraj 62no).

 

Shaumik bags six to bowl Ensconse to victory

Shaumik Kapoor took six wickets to bowl Ensconse to a 40-run victory over Ours in the B Division T20 league-cum-knock-out tournament. Ensconse, batting first, made 139 for seven with Keshav Upadhyay scoring 58 of those. In reply, Ours were restricted to 99 for nine with Shaumik grabbing six for 17.

Aditya to lead Hyderabad U-16 team

Aditya Vardhan will lead the Hyderabad U-16 team for their match against Himachal Pradesh in the Vijay Merchant Trophy at CP ground, Mulapadu, Andhra Pradesh, from December 29 to 31.
