Bhavani loses final to AP’s Jafreen Shaik, ends up with silver at National Deaf Senior meet

Hyderabad’s Bhavani Kedia delivered a stellar performance by securing a silver medal at the 27th National Deaf Senior Sports Championship held in Chandigarh from March 25 to 27, 2026.

In the final match, Bhavani fought valiantly but was narrowly defeated in a thrilling contest against Jafreen Shaik from Andhra Pradesh. Bhavani lost 7-6 (10/6) in the super tie-breaker. Nevertheless, her fighting spirit garnered widespread praise.

Bhavani Kedia has already earned significant recognition by representing India at the international level. She secured the 5th position in the women’s doubles category at the Deaflympics held in Tokyo and Brazil. She also showcased her talent at the World Championships held in Greece and Turkey.

Currently, Bhavani, who resides in Attapur, Hyderabad, is training at Value Labs Infra Private Limited under the guidance of former Davis Cup player M Vasudeva Reddy.

Through discipline and rigorous practice, she continues to advance on her path to success. Speaking on the victory, Bhavani stated, “Winning a silver medal at the National Championship is a matter of pride for me. Although I missed out on the gold, this has inspired me to work even harder and achieve better results in upcoming competitions.”
