Ayushi Prajapati bagged the gold medal in the 63kg weight category of the Classic Junior Powerlifting Championship organized by Telangana Powerlifting Association recently.
In recent times, there has been a growing interest in the sport of powerlifting in Telangana. In the initial days, it was thought of as a part of exercise regime. But now, powerlifting is being considered as a career option.
Girls, in particular, are not only learning powerlifting but are also showing amazing versatility in it. The 18-year-old Ayushi, who hails from Hyderabad, has made her debut in the sport.
Ayushi has been selected for the National sub-junior, junior men and women competitions to be held at Amalapuram in Konaseema district next month. She will be competing in the junior category at the national level.
Ayushi, who has been training at Actin Fitness Centre in Durganagar, has been working hard for these competitions for some time now. She says her goal is to earn the country a medal at the international level.
