Anmol Kharb and Aakarshi Kashyap won their respective qualification matches to enter the women’s singles main draw at the Indonesia Masters 2026 badminton tournament in Jakarta on Tuesday.
World No. 55 Anmol Kharb defeated Canada’s Wen Yu Zhang, 45th in the women’s singles badminton rankings, 21-18, 20-22, 21-19, while Aakarshi Kashyap defeated compatriot Isharani Baruah 21-13, 21-17 to move into the main draw.
Aakarshi Kashyap’s win was her second over Isharani Baruah in three matches.
However, Tasnim Mir, 50th in the women’s singles rankings, failed to make it past the women’s singles qualifiers after a 21-12, 21-16 loss against World No. 52 Amalie Schulz of Denmark.
Anmol Kharb and Aakarshi Kashyap will join two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, Malvika Bansod, Tanvi Sharma and Unnati Hooda in the women’s singles main draw of the BWF Super 500 tournament.
Rashmi Ganesh and Sania Sikkandar, India’s only pair in the women’s doubles, also went down in the qualifiers after losing 21-18, 21-17 to Keng Shuliang and Hua Zhou Li of the People’s Republic of China.
Meanwhile, Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun, the only main-draw representatives in action on the day, advanced to the second round of men’s doubles with a 21-19, 21-13 victory over the local pair of Ali Faathir Rayhan and Devin Artha Wahyudi.
After a tight opening game, Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun cruised through in the second to book their place in the next round.
Top contenders PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen will begin their respective Indonesia Masters campaigns on Wednesday.
