Dr K Anil Kumar on Sunday pulled off a two-vote victory over R Harinarayana Rao to win the race for the treasurer post of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

M Jeevan Reddy had already won the secretary’s post as the other candidates had withdrawn their nomination.

Anil, who was earlier the vice-president of the HCA and officiated as the president after Dr G Vivekananda was ejected by the Ombudsman for conflict of interest, polled in 69 votes.

Harinarayana, who is supposed to be backed by former Test player Arshad Ayub and others, got 59 votes, while Agam Rao got 27 and Babu Rao could manage to convince only six voters to back him.

Jeevan unanimously elected HCA secretary as other candidates withdraw their nomination

D Anil Kumar, who has been backed by Dr Vivekanand and former office-bearer N Shivlal Yadav, managed to ward off the competition. There were fears that Agam Rao, who also belongs to Vivek’s group, would eat into Anil’s votes. However, Agam could only dent the victory margin.

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) conducted elections for the posts of honorary secretary and honorary treasurer on March 15, 2026 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium (RGICS), Uppal, Hyderabad, in accordance with the election schedule notified by Electoral Officer VS Sampath, says an HCA release.

For the post of honorary secretary, Jeevan Reddy (Oxford Blues Cricket Club) was declared elected unopposed, as no other nominations were received for the said position.

After the completion of the polling process and counting of votes for the treasuer’s post, the results were declared as follows:
Dr K Anil Kumar (Satyam Colts Cricket Club) – 61 votes
R Harinarayan Rao (Marredpally Blues Cricket Club) – 59 votes
Agam Rao (Karimnagar District Cricket Association) – 27 votes
C Babu Rao (Sagar Cricket Club) – 6 votes

Accordingly, Dr K Anil Kumar was declared elected as the honorary treasurer of the Hyderabad Cricket Association, having secured 61 votes, winning the election by a margin of two votes.

The Hyderabad Cricket Association congratulates Jeevan Reddy on his election as honorary secretary and Dr K Anil Kumar on his election as honorary treasurer, and wishes them success in discharging their responsibilities and contributing towards the growth and development of cricket in Hyderabad, says the HCA release.
