Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Puducherry and Assam post wins; Telangana forfeit match
Hockey Andhra Pradesh, Assam Hockey, Hockey Karnataka from Division ‘B’ and Le Puducherry Hockey from Division ‘C’ scored hard fought wins and gained full points from their pool encounters in the 16th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2026 at the Maj Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium, Nehrunagar-Pimpri, on Thursday.
The day had two matches in Division ‘C’ forfeited. In a Pool ‘A’ encounter, between Dadra and Nagar Haveli Daman & Diu Hockey and Tripura Olympic Association was awarded to Dadra and Nagar Haveli as the Tripura failed to turn up. In Pool ‘B’, Hockey Gujarat won their match against Telangana Hockey. Both winners were handed 5-0 verdicts.

In a Division B, Pool ‘A’ encounter, Hockey Andhra Pradesh pipped Delhi Hockey 2-1. Rajeswari Vydadi Sai Dhana (13’) and Ankitha Bommu (30’) scored for the winners. Delhi Hockey found Mehto Nisha (33’) reduce the margin. Hockey Karnataka got the better of Hockey Tamil Nadu (5-1) in another Pool ‘B’ match-up. Hockey Karnataka had Lakshmi (3’), Manish Ponnamma Cd (9’), and a three-goal feat by Vyshnavi Arul (18’, 31’, 36’) account for their goals, while Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu pulled one-back through Priyadharsini K 4’.
Later in another match, in Division A, Pool ‘A’, Assam Hockey got the better of Kerala Hockey 4-2. A four-goal effort by Chaurasiya Tanya (17’, 41’, 44’, 44’) was the feature in Assam Hockey’s win, while Jyoti Xaxa (42’, 51’) pulled one back.
In a Division C, Pool ‘A’ matches, Hockey Arunachal drew 0-0 with Hockey Rajasthan. Likewise, in Pool ‘B’ of the same division, Le Puducherry Hockey downed Hockey Jammu and Kashmir 3-1 with a triple goal effort, two of Manjinder’s goals (22’, 31’) came off penalty corners, while one off a field goal (46’). For losers Le Pudduchery, Sonali Devi (6’) opened the scoring.
The matches are played out in two Divisions ‘B’ and ‘C’ respectively. The Championship is being hosted by Hockey Maharashtra in association with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. State Bank of India is the presenting sponsor, with Union Bank of India as the powering partner. Emcure Pharmaceuticals is the official partner, Bisleri is the hydration partner, while Aswani Associates and Suhana Masala are the support partners.
