Anand slams century in Secunderabad Club win; Ajay Kumar and Smaran Paul shine

CV Anand struck an unbeaten century to help Secunderabad Club score a 95-run win via the VJD method over Hyderabad District in the HCA’s C Division League Championship at the Secunderabad Club in Secunderabad on Sunday.

Anand, who is the state DGP, was in blistering form with the willow. Electing to bat, Secunderabad Club were off to a disastrous start as they lost opener Jay Agarwal (6), caught by Varshit off Maurya Sai Yadav, with 19 on the board. Anurag Haridas (16) was snapped up by Shanmukh of Maurya Sai Yadav to leave Secunderabad Club delicately placed at 55 for two.

However, Jamsheed Hormusjee joined opener CV Anand and the two rebuilt the innings. They added 164 for the third wicket with Anand being the dominant partner.

Anand in blistering form

Anand went on to make a fine century, his first since being appointed DGP of Telangana state, before being run out. His 126 came off just 82 balls with 21 fours and five sixes.

Jasmsheed too did not last long after that. He was caught by Sumit of Guru Prasad for a fine 77 off 58 balls with 13 fours and two sixes.

A Ahmed Khan (6) went without much ado, but Sanjeev Reddy and Varzavand R Debara added 56 for the sixth wicket before Varzavand was caught by Sumit of Shanmukh Swarup for 28.

Sanjeev and newman Krishay Agarwal (6 not out) took the score to 328 before Sanjeev was caught by Mohd Asad of Maurya Sai Yadav for a 38-ball 40.

With rain disrupting play, Hyderabad District ended up with 72 for three to lose the game by 95 runs.

Ajay Kumar Sangem

Ajay Kumar Sangem scored a 68-ball 42 with 11 fours and 12 sixes as Kakatiya ran up a huge 440 for nine against All Saints’. However, the match was abandoned with All Saints on 24 for no loss due to rain.

Smaran Paul took five for 46, but his effort went in vain as St Patrick’s lost to Hyderabad Public School (Ramanthapur) by 154 runs.

Sai Abhisek Kumar made 98 for Mayura against RJCC but rain washed out that game too.
