Hyderabad skipper P Aman Rao smashed an unbeaten century to help his side reach a formidable total against Maharashtra in the four-day Col CK Nayudu Trophy at the Deccan Gymkhana Cricket Ground in Pune on Wednesday.

After the first day’s play was lost due to wet ground conditions, Hyderabad more than made up for loss by reaching 358 for four in 94 overs with Aman batting on 187 off 277 balls with 25 fours and three sixes. G Rithish Reddy was on 41 off 97 balls with four boundaries.

Batting first, Hyderabad lost Vignesh Reddy (0) with six on the board. The opener was caught by wicketkeeper A Kawade off Ayush Biradar. Aaron George too did not last long as he fell for an individual score of 19 off 53 balls with three fours.

Hyderabad were 28 for two but Aman Rao and Aravelly Avanish Rao steadied the innings with some sensible batting. Aman took his time to settle down while Avanish kept the scoreboard moving.

They added 156 off 226 balls with Aman contributing 67 off 100 balls and Avanish getting 83 off 126. However, Maharashtra hit back by getting rid of the dangerous Avanish.

The Hyderabad batter was caught by A Joshi off K Chormale after making 83 with 10 fours and two sixes. Wafi Kachchhi (14) was bowled by A Nishad and Hyderabad were 210 for four.

However, Aman found an able partner in Rithish Reddy and the duo took the game away from Maharashtra. They have added 148 off 217 balls for the unbroken fifth wicket with Aman Rao doing the bulk of the scoring. He has contributed 101 off 120 balls, while Rithish made 41 off 97 balls.
