The football fraternity of Hyderabad on Saturday expresses its heartfelt condolences on the passing away of former DGP of undivided Andhra Pradesh HJ Dora.
“We pray that the Almighty grants strength and comfort to his bereaved family during this difficult time,” says a release.
During his distinguished tenure in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh before the bifurcation in 2014, Hyderabad witnessed several prestigious international football and sporting events.
With the cooperation and support of the administration, the sports fraternity was able to successfully conduct tournaments such as the Afro-Asian Games 2003, Pre-Olympic Football Qualifiers, 2007 Military World Games, and the historic Nizam Gold Cup.
These memorable events were held at the iconic Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, which was easily accessible to the sports lovers of the Twin Cities.
