Telangana men’s throwball team won the bronze medal at the 17th South Zone Throwball Championship 2026 held at Sri Vatsal Gurukul Vidyalaya in Tirupati.
In the league matches, Telangana defeated Karnataka 15-12, 15-11 and Pondicherry 15-06, 15-09. In another league match, Telangana lost to Andhra Pradesh in a closely contested game 15-11, 13-15, 14-16.
In the semifinals, Telangana lost to Tamil Nadu 11-15, 10-15.
In the third-place match, Telangana defeated Kerala 15-09, 15-07 and secured the bronze medal.
Dheeraj and Nithin Sagar gave excellent performances in the third-place match and played an important role in the team’s victory.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Women’s team could not progress beyond the league stage in the championship.
Kiran Chary, general secretary of the Telangana Throwball Association, along with the association members, congratulated the players for their performance and bringing a medal for the state.
