Advika leads Telangana skaters’ gold rush at Roller-Skating Nationals

Advika Muthar led the gold rush for Telangana skaters, who reaped a bountiful harvest by bagging 19 gold, 10 silver and nine bronze medals at the 63rd National Roller-Skating Championship in Visakhapatnam.

In what has been the best performance of the state over the past years at the National Championships, Telangana skaters proved their mettle by pocketing the medals at the event, which was held from December 5 to 15

“The 63rd National Championship was very challenging with skaters from various states competing with the best of their skills and talent and it was exciting to compete with them all and win the gold medals” said golden girl Advika Muthar, winner of three gold medals and a silver medal in the 10-12 years age group category.

The championship marked the highest number of participants and the toughest ever for skaters to compete at and the Telangana Skaters stamped their class by putting up an extraordinary show and tremendous performance across various individual, pair, couple and group events across various age groups ranging from 6-8 years age group till the above 18 age group.

The championship ended on a high note with extraordinary individual, pair and couple events performances and beyond extraordinary and exemplary performances in the group events making Telangana skaters stand out among the rest of the competitors.

Arjuna Awardee and former World Champion Anup Kumar Yama, in recognition of his services to the sport, was felicitated at the inauguration.

“The skaters have undergone rigorous and intensive training throughout the year 2025 by practicing for six hours a day and the regular periodic training camps along with the exclusive state camp conducted from the November 15 to 30. It equipped the skaters with all the preparation that was required to give their best at the prestigious championship and the results have been very satisfactory” said coach Anup Kumar Yama.
