Hyderabad women met their match in the Delhi women as they went down without a fight in the BCCI Women’s Under-23 One-day tournament at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy in Dehradun on Monday.

After their win in the third round, one expected the Hyderabad players to put up a fight against Delhi but they caved into a nine-wicket loss.

Hyderabad skipper Vanka Pooja won the toss and elected to bat first but, thereafter, it was a downhill ride for her and the team.

It was disaster written all over as Hyderabad as Bharti Rawal scalped two of the first three wickets to fall with just six on the board.

Bharti had opener Sandhya Gora caught by Madhu for a duck and then Akanksha Semwal (6) was run out by Madhu. To add insult to injury, Bharti then bowled Pooja for a duck.

It was left to wicketkeeper Mamatha, who has been in sublime form, to salvage the situation. She added 24 with M Sakshi Rao (11) for the fourth wicket.

After Sakshi’s departure, Mamatha found an able ally in V Prathiksha. The duo rebuilt the innings brick by brick. They added 64 off 77 balls for the sixth wicket.

Pratiksha made 36 off 47 balls with three fours and two sixes before falling. Mamatha contributed 25 off 30 balls to the partnership.

Thereafter, Hyderabad again lost their way and were bowled out for 145. Mamatha remained unconquered on 63 off 85 balls with six fours.

Madhu took three for 31 and Bharti Rawal got two for six.

Delhi women had no problems in chasing down the total

The Delhi women had no problems in chasing down the Hyderabad score. Openers Nilanchal Nerwal and Manshi Sharma added 44 off 52 for the first wicket to put their side on way to victory. Manshi made a 27-ball 26 before falling to Sakshi Rao.

Skipper Tanisha Singh joined Nilanchal and the duo doused Hyderabad’s hopes of making a fight of the contest.

The duo added 102 off 108 balls for the unbroken second wicket as Delhi made 146 for one in just 26.3 overs.

Nilanchal was unbeaten on 54 off 78 balls with eight fours and Tanisha scored an unbeaten 55-ball 56 with eight fours.

Delhi consolidated their position at the top of Group E with 16 points from four games, while Hyderabad were in the third position with eight points from four matches.
