It turned out to be a gold rush for the para cyclists, trained under Aditya Mehta Foundation (AMF), as they delivered an outstanding performance at the 2nd Para Road Cycling National Championship held at ORR Service Road, Medchal, on Thursday.
The para cyclists secured an impressive haul of seven gold medals. They also bagged a silver and a bronze medal to showcase their talent. The medal haul also reaffirmed AMF’s commitment towards excellence in para sports in India.
Anshuman, who is all of 15 years only, stole the limelight in the MC1 category. The lad from Maharashtra bagged the gold medal in an impressive show.
Two sixteen-year-olds too came to the fore during the tournament. Both of them ended up with a gold medal each. Sameer of Uttar Pradesh clinched the gold in the MC4 category and Vishwa of Gujarat won the yellow metal in the WC3 category.
Andhra had a lot to cheer about as two of their para cyclists won gold medals. Arshad took the top honours in the MC2 category and Pawan brooked no challenge in the MC3 category as he raced away to the gold medal.
Telangana’s Aryavardhan finished behind Arshad to lay his hands on the silver medal in the MC2 category.
The athletes showcased exceptional determination, resilience, and competitive excellence while competing against the best para cyclists from across the country.
