Siblings Angela and Jack Yu took home three gold medals at the Victor Oceania Championships 2026 as Australia completed a near-sweep.

Shaunna Li’s success in women’s singles prevented an Australian whitewash as the New Zealander got the better of second seed Tiffany Ho.

Australia started strong as Gronya Somerville and Angela Yu surged past New Zealand’s Berry Ng/Amanda Ng 21-9 21-9 in just 24 minutes. It was Somerville’s eighth women’s doubles title and Yu’s third.

The standout match of the day was men’s singles. Shrey Dhand earned his first win over New Zealand’s Edward Lau in three meetings, avenging his 2024 final loss with a hard-fought 20-22, 21-17, 21-13 victory, which also gave him his first Oceania title.

“I got the silver, I got the bronze, I had to get the gold to complete the set,” Dhand told Badminton Oceania. “I knew inside that I could push through, no matter how tired I was.

“This one is for my mum, she’s been a bit sick, she’s in the hospital. This one is for you mum, thanks for the support.”

Shaunna Li and Tiffany Ho were in their third final face-off in four years. The New Zealander defended her title in straight games, beating Ho 21-14 21-14 for her third title.

“My friends are so supportive of me and everyone is so busy, so I am so grateful that they were able to make their way here and watch me play,” Li said. “It means the world.”

Angela’s brother Jack, playing men’s doubles with Rizky Hidayat, won a second gold for the family as the sixth seeds overcame New Zealand’s Chris Benzie/Dylan Soedjasa 21-17, 21-9.

“I feel so amazing,” Hidayat said. “I am very proud of my partner, he covered me a lot!”

The Yu family wasn’t done yet as Angela returned with Andika Ramadiansyah. A 21-13, 21-16 victory over Ricky Cheng/Natalie Ting of New Zealand gave the Australian duo their first mixed doubles title.
