Md Liakhath Hussain and Abhishek Murugan struck centuries to boost Sportive’s score to 486 for nine against Charminar in the semifinals of the HCA B Division (2-day) League Championship at the Gymkhana in Hyderabad on Friday.
Electing to bat Sportive lost Karthikeya Choudary (14) with 26 on the board. However, C Siddharth Rao and E Nihaal Reddy added 101 for the second wicket to lay the platform for a big score. Siddharth Rao fell for a 73-ball 71 which contained 10 fours and two sixes.
Nihaal did not last long after that as he fell for 50 off 84 balls with 9 fours.
T Aniketh Reddy did not trouble the scorers much as he fell for 1 and Sportive were 152 for four.
However, No.4 bat Md Liakhath Hussain and Vallepu Murthy added 83 runs for the fifth wicket before Murthy fell for a 57-ball 66 with four fours and five sixes.
Then Hussain and Abhishek Murugan a whopping 191 for the sixth wicket to seal Charminar’s fate. The southpaws ground the rival attack to the dust.
Hussain fell after making 103 off 156 balls with seven fours and a six, and seven runs later Murugan joined him in the dressing room. Murugan scored 113 off 121 balls with 12 fours and two sixes.
At the end, Shantanu Sandeep helped himself to a 19-ball 37 with three fours and three sixes as Sportive made 486 for nine.

Medak to meet Karimnagar in final
Medak will take on Karimnagar in the final of the HCA Under-19 Men’s Inter-District One-day tournament. In the semifinals on Friday, Medak defeated Warangal by 51 runs and Karimnagar took out Khammam in their 57-run victory.
Brief scores: Medak 216/8 in 42 overs (R Ruthwik 74, K Vignesh 35, B Vithesh 4/43) beat Warangal 165 in 37.3 overs (V Preethesh 36, M Ramcharan 44, B Hishanth 4/37).
Karimnagar 208 in 41.5 overs (Thakshil Erroju 84, Syyed Ahmed Aqdaam 55, S Hrishikesh 3/40) beat Khammam 151 in 33.5 overs (S Guru Vidhwan 42, Thakshil Erroju 3/23, Syyed Ahmed Aqdaam 3/28).
